Assalamualaikum and hi people. So I have been surveying some blogs that talk about Foundation of TESL in UiTM as the SPM results came out recently. And I have this thought of writing a post about Teaching English As a Second Language..I have gone through two semesters of this course...so yeah. I don't think I have much ideas to talk about TESL but I am just going to try to share some tips that might be useful to u ppl.
The first...most vital thing that u should take seriously is the interview. To be real...I don't even know how interviewees are being chosen because I have several friends that do talk Eng better than me and same goes to their writing-I am suck and I know that...I think I'm more to Eng celup kot...thnx to Juwe yg da preached at me about proficiency in Eng before- and they did not make it. Well to explain that...I just dont knw how but He has planned everything for us ,so it is on everybody's rezki la. During the iv...just act like you are some kind of native speaker that of course la speaks eng well and plz put on big smile and dont forget to boost ur confidence to the maximum. Personally I think my interview was dreadful and my writing was terribly bad. but I acted like I had nothing to worry. Please do make some friends when u meet other interviewees or else thing will turn out to be very awkward. trust me (:
Second... if u make it to the next round which is being a TESLian, plz do bear this in mind that to succeed in this programme...u need to work a bit on ur Eng...klu memang da pro xyah study pun xpe study skit2 pun da ok...tpi for those yg eng celup2 je like me...u really need to work hard for ths. Do revise grammar stuff that ur lecturer bg...kdg2 we think we are doing great but technically and ironically we are not...just like our BM la...there is no doubt org melyu speaks in malay but then still sometimes we fail to get an A for BM..kan2? for writing...ingt this isnt d same writing that u knew when u were in highschool...every detail is very much distinct...everyone can write...but to be a good writer..there are some rules that u need to follow. Dont forget too to widen ur vocab..just go get a thesaurus and a dictionary...Im still using them up till now...smpai kdg2 I feel so ashamed to admit that I was a TESLian...coz it makes no difference..I feel like I'm just d same dgn org2 yg xstudy eng. My english is so-so and sometimes can be awful too. So if u really make it into TESL course...make sure u do improve ur eng...be a better speaker, reader and writer. I know that it is hard to really see these changes...just do what u think should be done in order to make things better :D
All in all...make sure u take this course because u love and want it. dont waste ur time doing something that u dont like at all...I always tell myself to do things that I like coz I know that I would give my best to accomplish them.
